Italy thinking about
offering women paid ‘menstrual leave
Italy could soon become the first Western country to offer paid
‘menstrual leave’ to women who experience painful periods.
The country’s parliament has been discussing the measure, which would
mean companies have to offer three paid days off each month to women who get
bad aches.
It’s not the first time this kind of legislation has been mooted, with
countries including Japan and Indonesia already allowing women time off.
Experts have previously argued it makes sense as it would make workers feel
happier and more comfortable.
She voiced concerns that kind of legislation might make some firms think
twice before taking on women.
Writer Miriam Goi penned a piece for Vice Italy,
where she stated it could also compound the stereotype that women are more emotional
at certain times in their menstrual cycle.
The issue is certainly a hotly-debated topic in the UK.
In September, Radio 5 Live’s Emma Barnett sparked outrage after
discussing menstrual leave on BBC Breakfast.
She argued that if men had periods things would be arranged around their
cycles and they would treat it like a “badge of honor,” but was accused of
being sexist
Watch What This Woman Did When a Guy Wouldn't Kiss Her on the Kiss Cam
It's been a great week for people who
enjoy messing with the Kiss Cam at sporting events, especially after the
Chicago Bulls's mascot Benny
the Bull swooped in
and "rescued" a woman who looked like she was "fighting"
with a "boyfriend" because he wouldn't kiss her.
Now,
a British student at the Jan. 8 New York Knicks-Houston Rockets game has video
proof of another
hilarious Kiss Cam moment. The woman tries to get the guy next to her to give
her a kiss. But when he doesn't budge, she grabs the other guy sitting next to
her — whom the video claims is a stranger — and shares a passionate kiss with
him.
This
clip of what is probably a hilarious piece of performance art boasts more than
6.3 million views after three days, so if you want to become Internet famous in
2015, start thinking about what you and your friends would do on the Kiss Cam
if it lands on you.
