Mother ‘almost passed out’ when she learned son threw party for nearly 200 people in Chicago

While his mom worked a 24-hour shift as a first responder, this Chicago man decided to ignore the coronavirus lockdown and throw a party in her house — for nearly 200 people.

The woman, who has since apologized to the mayor, has now revealed that she knew nothing about the party and called the massive gathering “disgusting.”

“I was astounded when I saw the video,” the homeowner, who asked not to be named because of her job, told a local NBC affiliate.

The shocking video, which went viral on social media over the weekend, showed dozens of young people dancing and drinking while standing extremely close to each other.

When officers told her they had broken up a party there shortly after midnight, she was shocked and furious at her 26-year-old son and even apologized to Mayor Lori Lightfoot, who on Monday called the gathering “reckless and utterly unacceptable.”

Police still decided to issue her a citation for violating the state’s “stay-at-home” order, which prohibits large gatherings.

The young man, Janeal Wright, admitted to hosting the party and deactivating the video doorbell system so his mother wouldn’t find out that dozens of people were gathering at the house.

He told NBC Chicago that he only expected 20 to 30 people to show up to celebrate the lives of two friends who were recently killed, but almost 200 stopped by.

“With us being young, us being millennials, like the mayor said, we didn’t really know how severe this was,” Wright said. “It really hasn’t been hitting home for us like that, but now I see the error of everything.”
