The Bauchi state governor Bala Mohammed, on behalf of the Northern governors of Nigeria announced via a statewide broadcast that it has been unanimously agreed that in light of the current COVID 19 pandemic, the almajiri system is no longer tenable. He further mentioned that the children will be transported back to their state of origin where they will be subsequently reunited with their parents
