PDP Chairmanship candidate pledges party unity

In the run-up to the party congress, one of the front line candidates for the chairman of Lagos State PDP, Dr. Adetokunbo Pearse has pledged to work across groups to foster unity within the ranks of party faithful in Lagos, in preparation for the task of dislodging the incumbent APC government in Lagos. In an interview monitored on NAN he said

“If elected Lagos State PDP Chairman, l will work hard to promote party unity. I will relate closely with Party Stakeholders at all levels, from local, to state, to Zonal and National.

“I will invigorate the party with regular activities such as seminars, conferences, and award ceremonies.

“These events will take place in different Local Government Areas in order ensure the participation of members at all levels. It sounds unbelievable but the party does not own a state secretariat in Lagos.

“I will make PDP members throughout the state proud by setting up a one billion naira building fund for the purpose of purchasing or building our own state secretariat.”

Pearse said the party activities and his plan for the state would convince the people of Lagos to join the great party, PDP, as that positive alternative.

The university lecturer said his appeal for new members would be in particular to the young, vigorous and forward-looking people who were committed to a better Lagos.

He noted that his primary mission would be to reenergize the party and encourage its members to win electoral offices from local government offices to House of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate, and Governor.
